Our cocoa

EJ Flomo Cocoa is on more than 18 Hectares of land owned and operated by the business in Gbonyea, Lofa County. The cocoa farm has over 100,000 trees which are of the Forastero, Trinitario, and Criollo varieties.

Origins

Our cocoa beans originate from our family-owned 40+ hectare commercial farm and from local outgrower cocoa farming communities throughout Lofa County, Liberia.

Every cocoa bean harvested goes through our cocoa processing facility, using rigorous standards of box fermentation, solar drying and grading. After processing and quality control, our beans are carefully sorted, bagged and safely transported to Monrovia for export to the EU and USA.

We invest in supporting our outgrower farmers through Good Agricultural Practice training, providing interest-free loans, and partnering with their communities to implement projects such as women and youth centres, clinics, schools etc.

Organic Production

From seed to sale our cocoa is produced with zero chemical inputs

The farm includes livestock which enables us to produce our own organic compost and liquid fertilizer. Seedlings are propagated on-farm using only these organic fertilizers.

Pests and diseases are sustainably managed through zero-input Good Agricultural Practices, including proper farm maintenance techniques.

Strict protocols are in place to ensure that no chemical contamination occurs during the harvesting, fermentation or drying process.
